Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ)
The Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, established in 1964 as a foundation under public law, is Germany’s largest biomedical research center with a worldwide reputation of excellence in basic and translational cancer research. The strategic goals of the DKFZ are to contribute toward a better understanding of fundamental processes in cancer and to develop innovative methods of cancer diagnosis and therapy.
DKFZ is the leader of Work Package 4 and the main task consists in leading the bioinformatics processing and integrative data analysis. This also includes computational integration of all data generation and discovery-focused exploitation of the dataset. Other tasks of DKFZ include the contribution to data management and portal development of Work Package 5, i.e. to help ingest all the data from the consortium into the HCA and lead the development of an interactive HCA|Organoid Data Portal to access and browse all data. In Work Package 6, DKFZ will lead the disease pilots and perform a cancer colon organoid pilot experiment to prove the utility of HCA|Organoid for the analysis and the interpretation of personalised cancer models.
