Successful Human Cell Atlas 2022 General Meeting in Vienna, Austria & Hybrid

From 27 to 29 of June, scientists from all over the world participated in the Human Cell Atlas 2022 General Meeting themed “Building draft atlases, integrating across communities, and maximizing impact”. The event was held at the impressive venue “Palais Niederösterreich” in Vienna and online. The first day welcomed about 250 participants in-person and close to 600 online checked-in attendees. With HCA|Organoid project coordinator Christoph Bock heading this year’s programme committee and several team members contributing to the fully-packed conference agenda, HCA|Organoid played an important role in the success of the event.

On the first day, Christoph Bock made the welcoming remarks and chaired the sessions about the “State of the Human Cell Atlas” and “Exciting Advances”. Furthermore, Prisca Liberali, one of the HCA|Organoid work package leaders, presented her work on the human perspective of intestinal regeneration, which utilises organoids generated within the HCA|Organoid project.

On Wednesday, 29 June, there was a special session dedicated to the results of the six EU Horizon 2020 pilot projects. Sabrina Ladstätter, the scientific project manager of HCA|Organoid, presented the major achievements of the project. Moreover, Christoph Bock chaired the session “Future Perspectives” in which HCA|Organoid work package leader Jürgen Knoblich presented his work on genetic CRISPR/Cas9 screening in cerebral organoids by barcoded single-cell transcriptomics.
